TRAINING ON RIVER VALLEY PROJECT HELD AT WOKHA

Training cum demonstration for Chuben River Valley Project was held on 26th August 2010 at Soil Colony-Molonsu Community Hall, Wokha. The Department of Soil and Water Conservation Wokha organized the training.
River Valley Project (RVP) is a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme, where this is the 4th project to be undertaken by the Department. Deputy Director, Temjen Longkumer, while giving the keynote address, said that this project is a Research oriented, where the purpose is for treating flood control in low lying areas during rainy season. He also stated that this project is taken up for treatment of catchments areas beyond Dhansari and Doyang River. The project will also undertake study on Hill land treatment, drainage line treatment. For successful implementation of the project, he urged the village authorities to co-operate with the department officials. Fifty (50) trainees led by their Village Councils Chairman from six (6) villages namely Humtso, Elemyo, Wokha Village, Longsa, Pongidong and Tsungza attended the training.
The inaugural function was chaired by SDO Soil and water conservation, Bhandari, while SDO Lochumi Venuh proposed the vote of thanks.
